Edmund Blair Leighton

Edmund Blair Leighton (1852-1922) was a Victorian painter (sometimes considered to be one of the Pre-Raphaelites) who specialized in romanticized historical scenes. It could be argued that his paintings overly sanitized the unsavory aspects of prior eras, but the Victorians ate this stuff up. And Leighton's paintings are lovely.
